Sharing the spirit

22 November 2022

Meet Te Pinepine Tora from Farmers Glenfield, who has been collecting the Farmers Christmas baubles, which raise funds for hospice, since the campaign began nine years ago.

When Te Pinepine Tora joined the team at Farmers Glenfield nine years ago this was also when Farmers began its annual Christmas campaign for hospice. So Te Pinepine started collecting the baubles, and has made it her mission to share their special significance with others.

Over the years she has bought around 40 baubles, but has given most of them away to friends and whānau who have lost loved ones. These three are all she has left. She keeps them in a very special place at home with her pounamu, where they can be protected and watched over by the loved ones she has lost.

This year's bauble, inspired by Matariki and which features stars to represent our departed loved ones and the comfort they bring, is her new favourite, although she counts all of them as very special. "I just love them because they are meaningful," she says. "They're not just a bauble. They're a way of remembering those we love."

Pop into your local Farmers today to get your Matariki-inspired bauble. They cost $10 each and all proceeds go to Harbour Hospice. We're very grateful to all who support this beautiful campaign, which has so far raised $6million for hospices across NZ.
