Peggy pounds pavement for hospice

Harbour Hospice’ Recruitment Specialist Peggy Newton LOVES running and now she's found a way to turn her passion into a fundraiser for hospice!

Recruitment Specialist Peggy Newton has always run for health and fitness, and now she's using it to raise money for Harbour Hospice. So far this year she has raised $670 by running five half marathons (the Auckland Half Marathon Series), with a sixth to go in September in Rotorua.

The runs were meant to be spread out over several months but because of postponements caused by Covid-19 Peggy ended up running one every fortnight in just two months!

Sounds exhausting! But Peggy says she's loved every minute. “I like the sense of achievement and even though there was one run where it was really hard to get to the finish line I still did the next one!

"It’s giving me a lot of encouragement to continue my training. I’m not only doing this for myself, but for a much bigger cause.”
