Medical student placements

Harbour Hospice offers six-month placements for Registrars who have chosen Palliative Care as their speciality. Palliative care embraces the holistic care model and the palliative trainee is an integral part of the multi-professional team which includes nurses, social workers, counsellors, chaplains, physiotherapists, cultural advisors and complementary therapists.

Harbour Hospice provides specialist palliative care to patients through Hospice clinics and in-patient units, and in community care facilities like private hospitals. We also provide palliative care in partnership with GPs, practice nurses and district nursing in the community.

We also have House Officers rotating through our inpatient units as part of their community-based attachments.

We welcome interest from other medical trainees looking to complete a placement such as an elective. Please complete the Medical Student Elective Enquiry Form to register your interest or email our education team for more information on Medical Placements.

Non-clinical student placements

We also provide opportunities for students interested in non-clinical areas of hospice care and operations.

This was a really great placement. It gave me a good understanding of how health professionals work together for all round care.
