Programmes for carers & whānau

Programme for Carers (Hibiscus Coast)
A support group for carers of patients at Harbour Hospice that is run periodically through the year.

The group is facilitated by counsellors and provides education and support. Topics include nutrition, self-care, relaxation strategies, support services and more.

When: Wednesdays 10.30am – 12.00pm. This in an open group which allows people attending whenever they are able. Morning tea is provided.
Where: In the Chapel/Quiet Room at Harbour Hospice Hibiscus House, 2a John Dee Crescent, Whangaparoa.

It's not just me (Hibiscus Coast)
Support for children and young people aged 6-17 years facing and managing loss and/or bereavement of a loved one. These free sessions provide a safe creative space for interaction & play, sharing & talking (no pressure if you don’t want to), meeting with others experiencing similar losses, exploration with a range of creative resources. You can attend 1 or 2 sessions. Caregivers don’t need to attend. Light refreshments will be provided. Facilitated by Jo Harris, Registered clinical arts therapist and Susan Crozier, Registered counsellor.

When: 2:00pm - 4:00pm on August 7 & October 23.
Where: Hibiscus Conference Centre at Harbour Hospice Hibiscus House, 2a John Dee Crescent, Whangaparoa.

Support Group for Carers (North Shore)
A support group for people who are caring for a family or whānau member.

Sessions include a presentation with time to talk together as a group and share knowledge and experiences. There is an additional practical session for those who are interested in learning some nursing skills. The session will be facilitated by a senior nurse and may not be of interest to all group members.

When: This is a four week course run regularly throughout the year on a Friday from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The next group commences on 12 October and runs for 5 weeks. Lunch is provided.
Where: Taharoto Road, Takapuna - venue to be confirmed on enrolment.

Caregivers Programme (Warkworth/Wellsford)
A support group for caregivers of patients at Hospice.

The group is facilitated by a social worker and/or counsellor and provides education and support. Topics include nutrition, self care, relaxation strategies, support services and more. You will meet others in a similar situation and can share ideas in a caring and supportive environment.

When: 11.00am – 12.30pm every first and third Thursday of the month throughout the year. This in an open group which allows people to attend whenever they are able. Morning tea and light lunch is provided.
Where: Harbour Hospice Tui House, 47 Morrison Drive, Warkworth.
