Tour de Backyard
What if your daily dash around the block could also give back to a great community cause?
We’re calling walkers, runners, cyclists and outdoor lovers of all abilities and ages to the driveway start line.
Take part in this awesome virtual event designed to boost your mental and physical health, and raise vital funds for Harbour Hospice who are continuing to care for our most vulnerable through uncertain and challenging times.
How does it work?
1) Pick an event goal
Choose a distance to fit your own personal fitness level and capabilities e.g. 50 kms over 5 days, or 5 kms over 10 days. You can walk, run or bike this distance.
2) Create your fundraising page
3) Invite your friends and family to support you
Share your fundraising goal via Social Media and ask friends and family to support you by donating via Everyday Hero (our chosen Peer to Peer Fundraising platform) and help to raise vital funds for Harbour Hospice, while staying safe, having fun, and working on fitness in your bubble. Much like a certain French cycling event, you’re stronger with a team behind you, cheering you on from the virtual side lines.
4) Get started on your goal
Head to your driveway start line and let the tour commence!
Uneven footpaths, low-hanging branches, undiscovered tracks, other backyard explorers – every step, stride, pedal or push is an adventure when you’re exercising in your bubble!
Our community nurses travel over 11,000 kms each month to visit patients in their homes. We want to collectively try to match this distance by walking, biking or runnning to raise vital funds so that Harbour Hospice can continue to provide our specialist services to anyone who needs them. How many kilometres will you sign up to do?
* You’ll need to continue to be exceptional Kiwis by uniting against COVID-19 and sticking to the current Alert level rules around physical distancing and staying local. Click on Rules above for more information.
We have prizes for the best fundraisers, so what are you waiting for? Start your fundraising page now!
