Covid-19 Alert Level 3

We would like to reassure you that throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Harbour Hospice remains committed to delivering specialist palliative care right across the Hibiscus Coast, North Shore and Warkworth / Wellsford communities - at all Alert Levels.

Our multidisciplinary teams are currently caring for around 350 patients and families within their own homes, in our Inpatient Units and within aged residential care. However, during the Covid-19 emergency and various Alert Levels the way we deliver care has changed rapidly to ensure the safety of our patients, their families, our own staff and our wider community.

While this situation is challenging for us all, we are deeply grateful for the support we continue to receive from our communities. Your strength, belief and passion for our cause will help us to continue to provide the highest level of specialist care now and into the future.

As we navigate through the Alert Levels and support the nationwide fight against Covid-19, we will share the latest updates right here across each of our services. Thank you for your understanding.

Our promise to be available to our patients and families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week remains in force and is more important than ever at Alert Level 3, as people can feel very isolated in their unique bubbles.

Our nurses, doctors, counsellors, social workers, spiritual and cultural support professionals are mainly working from home using secure, remote devices. These allow them to readily access and update patient information.

The majority of their work is carried out via frequent telephone calls and telehealth but essential visits do take place and our staff wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) to protect you and themselves.

Covid-19 screening questions will be asked prior to any visit.

If you have any further questions regarding access to services during this time, please call:

North Shore 09 486 1688
Hibiscus Coast 09 421 9180
Warkworth / Wellsford 09 425 9535

Our Inpatient Units remain open and the health and safety of our patients, families and frontline staff is our priority. As a result, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to limit Inpatient Unit visiting.

Visiting is closed except for named immediate family members as follows:

  • Patient has one family member who can come and stay.
If the above option is not possible, then one family member can visit once a day. This must be the same family member each day.
  • The visitor must stay in the room with the patient - not move around the building.
  • No children under 18 may visit.
  • ALL visitors will complete screening questions and be temperature checked.

Other considerations will be given on compassionate grounds, on a case by case basis - for example, last days of life. This will be discussed with the Clinical Service Manager.

Our Family Support Teams remain available to you for phone calls and telehealth contacts.

These programmes have been postponed under Alert Level 3. However, team members will continue to keep contact via telephone and telehealth.
