Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Harbour Hospice remains committed to delivering specialist palliative care right across the Hibiscus Coast, North Shore and Warkworth / Wellsford communities - at all Alert Levels.
Our multidisciplinary teams are currently caring for around 350 patients and families within their own homes, in our Inpatient Units and within aged residential care. However, during the Covid-19 emergency and lockdown the way we deliver care has changed rapidly to ensure the safety of our patients, their families, our own staff and our wider community.
While this situation has been challenging for us all, we are deeply grateful for the support we continue to receive from our communities. Your strength, belief and passion for our cause will help us to continue to provide the highest level of specialist care now and into the future.

Our promise to be available to our patients and families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week has remained in force throughout all Alert Levels.
Right now we are caring for around 350 patients within their own homes, in our Inpatient Units and in aged residential care.
Our nurses, doctors, counsellors, social workers, spiritual and cultural support professionals have resumed community visits, however there will be strict covid screening carried out prior to every visit and appropriate use of PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure your safety and that of our staff.

Our Inpatient Units remain open, but we are only admitting people with complex symptom management needs, end of life care that cannot be managed at home and very urgent respite care. The health and safety of our patients, families and frontline staff is our priority. As a result we have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to limit Inpatient Unit visiting.
Visiting at Alert Level 2:
Patients at end of life
One, or possibly two, family members can visit and stay - depending on our IPU's ability for the family members to stay in the patients' room. There will be other considerations given on compassionate grounds, on a case by case basis - for example, last days of life. This will be discussed with the Clinical Service Manager.
We realise that the restrictions required under Alert level 3 have meant that many people have not been able to hold a funeral or tangihanga as a formal means of farewell. Our limited ‘bubbles’ also impact on the amount of family and community support that is usual at a time of loss and in the weeks and months that follow. Our Family Support Teams remain available to you for phone calls and telehealth contacts.

All of our 17 Harbour Hospice shops (except Te Hana) are open at Alert Level 2, but some may have reduced hours and days.
Please keep in mind that while we are accepting donations at Alert Level 2, our teams are working at a reduced capacity. If you're able to, please call the store before you arrive with your donation.

Due to the strict rules around large gatherings and events, many of our much-loved fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed. We rely heavily on this activity to bring in much needed funds, so we are currently putting together fun, digital-run events that you can be involved with from the comfort of your bubble!
