Harbour Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to patients and families living on the Hibiscus Coast, on the North Shore and in the Warkworth and Wellsford communities. About the Role

This role is primarily responsible for strengthening clinical practice across Harbour Hospice, through the identification of learning needs as well as researching, developing and delivering best practice models of care to staff, primary palliative care providers, hospice stakeholders and our respective communities.

This role will also manage the Clinical Nurse Educator to ensure the provision of specialist palliative care education.

Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate advanced clinical practice
  • Play a leadership role in career and succession planning through the implementation of career pathways
  • Work with the Clinical Nurse Educator to deliver and/or facilitate specific training to internal and external learners, such as Fundamentals Programme and other Palliative care education as required
  • Ensure new clinical staff coming into the organisation are well supported through the provision of an appropriate, consistent, robust clinical orientation programme
  • Proactively lead and support the PDRP programme for nursing staff ensuring our target of 100% uptake is achieved

This role will primarily be based at our Hibiscus Coast site but will be required to travel across our catchment area which includes our North Shore and Warkworth sites.

About You

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with the New Zealand Nursing Council and have a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing relevant to the specialism of palliative care, including at least 5 year’s senior practitioner experience. A natural leader you will have an ability to articulate evidence based nursing, quality and education advice to a multidisciplinary team, in an inspiring and motivational manner.
