Complex pain and symptom management of palliative care patients

This one day workshop will look at the history of pain management, pain pathways, types of pain and the treatment options available. Symptoms that are covered include nausea and vomiting, dyspnea, delirium and terminal restlessness. With case studies to support learning, and interactive aspects to encourage participants to share knowledge.

The 3 D's: Delirium, Dementia and Depression

This session looks at the difference between these complex issues and provides tools and information on options for treatment using a variety of techniques. Focusing mainly on how these impact the older person and those within the Palliative Care setting. Using an interactive approach, bringing in participants experiences and using case studies to glean from the collective knowledge of those participating.

Palliative emergencies

In this session we look at some of the situations that can arise which need acute and emergency action within palliative case. These will include; Spinal Cord Compression, Hemorrhage, Superior Vena Cave Obstruction, Hyopercalcemia, Seizures and Pain Crisis. Using a variety of teachingm learning and education methods to enhance the oparticipants experience with these topics.
